Pledge to build more homes each year in London will require widespread discussion

Date: 3/6/2016

Labour's Sadiq Khan has been elected as the new Mayor of London. Planning magazine reports that housing sat at the heart of his election campaign, with clear promises to build more affordable homes and to prioritise homes for Londoners.

Anna Rose, Senior Vice President of the Planning Officers Society, says Khan's manifesto pledge to build more homes each year is likely to require further discussions between boroughs to ensure they have not omitted any land that could be suitable for housing development from their local plans.
