The Planning Officers Society, one of the sponsors of the RTPI 2009 Planning Awards, was present at the Awards Ceremony on 4th February at the London Hilton to see the winners receiving their Awards.
The Society sponsored the E-Government Award and David Hackforth, POS Resident, made the formal presentation to representatives of Arups, the London Development Agency. The HCA and Rade New Media Ltd.
A website has been created that allows London Boroughs to control the brownfield land data and giving access to stakeholders and prospective developers allowing dependable exploration of the capital’s brownfield sites.
The Judges declared that “This work has set a benchmark using the power of information technology to provide a fresh, sophisticated and accessible way to identify sites for potential reuse to help the process of bringing them forward for development, together with a roust updating system.”
John Silvester, Spokesperson for the Society, said “we recognise the importance of the Awards in celebrating all that is good in modern planning.”
