Date: 19/11/2008

The Planning Officers Society is extremely sorry to announce the death of Dave Wood, the Society’s Junior Vice-President. Dave had been in a coma for a week following a heart attack.

Dave was a founder member of the Society’s European Issues Topic Group, Chair of the Spatial Planning and Policy Committee and elected as JVP and Secretary in July 2008. Dave had been very involved in the affairs of the Society, most recently being responsible for preparing the Society’s response to the consultation on PPS6.

Phil Kirby, President of POS, said “this is very sad news indeed and I am sure I can speak for all colleagues in expressing sadness at the loss and that our thoughts are with David's family at this time.” Roger Hargreaves, Secretary of the Spatial Planning and Policy Committee, said “Dave was an excellent and warm colleague to work with, and I have no doubt that we will all feel his loss. Most of all we think of his widow, Sue.”

Dave was the Planning Policy Manager at Sandwell MBC and Chair of the Black Country Core Strategy Steering Group.
