Changes in regulations unlikely this year

Date: 21/7/2016

Planning magazine speculates whether the arrival of a new Prime Minister in Number 10 at a time of significant uncertainty in the UK could have major implications for the proposed changes to planning legislation. Regulations have to be laid in order to commence in either April or October, with any delay likely to delay their coming into force until next year.

Mike Kiely, Board Chair of the Planning Officers Society (POS), told a Planning reporter the government is now "increasingly unlikely" to get much regulation out in time to take effect this year.

John Silvester, Communications Manager for POS, believes planners and developers need some certainty from the government and said "The Society will be seeking a timetable of changes from DCLG."
