Fears that publishing pre-application advice could deter early discussions are unfounded

Date: 12/2/2016

Planning magazine reports that proposals by a London borough to publish pre-application advice could deter developers from early discussions.

Mike Kiely, Chair of the POS Board, told a reporter that some councils already make pre-application advice public. "Pre-app discussions at their early stages can legitimately be confidential - even the fact that you're having the discussion, let alone the details," he said. "But typically now, at some point, best practice authorities will involve their members at the pre-application stage, and generally ... that is done in public, not in provate."
