The Planning Officers Society has submitted its response in relation to the New Homes Bonus consultation.
The consultation document recognises that a key factor in influencing housing supply is local opposition. The reasons for opposing development revolve around supporting infrastructure. The New Homes Bonus is an incentive to mitigate against these impacts of development and is seen as a way to reduce local opposition to development. The question is whether the incentive scheme is sufficient to encourage local residents and councillors to endorse housing growth.
