The President has sent today a letter to Brandon Lewis MP from the Planning Officers Society, regarding the Expert Group to review the Local Plans system as part of the Government's Productivity Plans.
The Planning Officers Society welcomes the creation of the Expert Group to review the Local Plans system as part of the Government's Productivity Plans and planning reforms announced as part of the Budget.
We have been invited to comment on the scope of evidence which we will submit as a formal response shortly. We have been engaging closely with DCLG colleagues on the changes with suggestions to both streamline and improve the process of local plan making and adoption timescales.
We request that, as representatives of the national network of local government planners, we join the Expert Group as a formal member, where we can bring considerable expertise, advice and hands on experience to the review process. We will submit our response shortly but please would you give consideration to our request?
POS will also wish to participate in any round table discussions or peer groups if there any opportunities presented.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Stewart Murray, MRTPI
President, Planning Officers Society 2015/16
