The POS Members e-bulletin for July 2013 is now availaible
|... Breaking News ....|
POS has been made aware that the new suite of Planning Practice Guidance will be launched in the near future. This is initially to be in Beta mode for comment, but NOT for consultation as such. It seems that POS as an organisation, and other national bodies, and other national bodies, will be asked for their views.
Clearly this 'managed reduction' in the complex volumes of the previous guidance and its direct linkages to, and its practical alignment with, the NPPF are things to be positively welcomed, and it is hoped that everybody will appreciate the new web-based resource that will make accessing that information much easier, that it will be much more useful and hopefully far more transparent.
We are fortunate that Steve Ingram (as both a serving senior officer with Huntingdonshire DC and as Eastern Region Convenor for POS) has been acting in a personal capacity as one of Lord Taylor's 'independent experts' to provide practical input to the review process; and that some individual POS members (who have been nominated by the Development Management Committee) have provided specific commentary at the early stages of guidance preparation.
It is very important that Members of POS should provide 'comment' during the forthcoming Beta stage (and that our Committees/Topic Groups should focus on their specialised areas) so that their constructive thoughts can be incorporated into the amended 'live' version in due course.
Watch this space for more news as and when it happens.
