  • English Councils will be tasked with producing a 'local strategic plan for supported housing' setting out how they intend to meet the current and future supported housing requirements in their areas, according to a government policy statement >> read more
  • A PINS inspector has found 'shortfalls' in the provisions of a joint plan drawn up by three Gloucestershire authorities, but said that the document should be adopted now 'subject to an immediate partial review in order to reduce 'ad-hoc, unplanned development' >> read more

  • The government has published a consultation document on the revised draft airports NPSseeking comments by 19 December >> read more
  • A new social enterprise is brokering year-long placements for outstanding built environment practitioners within local government. Public Practice is inviting expressions of interest from local authorities and other public organisations to host placements for a first cohort based around London, the South East and East of England. Future cohorts will look to expand to other areas based on the level of interest. The initiative offers a cost-effective way of accessing high-quality candidates, as well as opportunities to participate in a shared research and development programme. Find out more at
  • Shelter has issued a new report on affordable housing viability, which endorses the POS implementation strategy for fixed affordable housing policies >> read more and read the Society manifesto paper on affordable housing
