LEPs Role in the Housing Growth Agenda - Case Study of Birmingham City and its environs

There were 4 case studies of Birmingham and its environs. The geography stretched across the West Midlands Region. We started in the east and work our way westwards: -

Coventry & Warwickshire LEP - Presented by Anna Rose (LEP strategic planning lead) - strategic planning input into the Strategic Economic Plan (SEP). Feed into the CX Group. Joint SHMA - 75,000 dwellings to be provided within the LEP. Captured in the SEP. 94,500 jobs to be created - articulated through SEP. Aspirational. Implications and tough decisions - for example increase in housing numbers for Rugby compared with adopted Core Strategy. Green Belt Review and Joint Committee.
