POS SE Regional Meeting, 1 May 2015 - meeting at the Rochester Innovation Centre
1. Welcome and Introductions - Sarah Platts welcomed everyone to the meeting, thanked the contributors and Dave Harris from Medway Council for organising the venue.
2. BRE's work, Chris Cousins (BRE associate) - Chris did a presentation on the work of BRE. This examined the aim of BREEAM and looked at the "BREEAM Communities" framework and its objective for Local Planning Authorities, developers and public bodies to work together to establish the principle, layout and details of development. It is pitched at the master-plan stage for large-scale developments that will have a significant impact and can help to reduce costs and strengthen stakeholder management. Chris talked about the implications of the Housing Standards Review, the March 2015 Ministerial Statement, which withdrew the Code for Sustainable Homes and the transitional arrangements for applying existing policies. Chris also introduced us to the work that the BRE is developing; the Home Quality Mark, which looks at matters such as cost and well-being. BRE Code Assessors would be assessors for the HQM.
