EXTRACT FROM THE NOTES OF THE MINERALS AND WASTE FORUM held on 9 MARCH 2011 in LONDON

This was Neil Hunt's last meting and the Forum recorded a vote of thanks to Neil for his contribution to the POS over the years and wished him a happy retirement. (Postscript- The Chair has since written to Neil personally thanking him for his support of the POS over a long period.)
CLG Liaison CLG gave a progress report on the Localism Bill. The Minister had agreed to consider amendments to Section 90 and the duty to co-operate. The Bill had now finished its third reading and the report stage was coming up.
CLG had held a number of workshops with key partners about the National Planning Policy Framework. They had received over 3000 responses including campaigns about protecting ancient woodlands, eco homes and light pollution. As work on the Framework is taken forward further workshops may be held. There would be a consultation in the summer and there were on going discussions on including the Framework on the face of the Localism Bill.
